Hi! My name is Sierra Ramon and I am a sophomore at Basha High School. For several years now I have wanted to experience studying in another country. Why? Because awareness of other cultures is the key to peace and understanding. Geography, history, and language classes cannot compare to the real life experience of being part of the community in another nation. Recently, Norway was rated as having the "happiest people in the world." We can read about it and see it in pictures, but to really understand we have to immerse ourselves in that culture, which is exactly what I plan to do!
I want to study in Norway during my Junior year in high school. This opportunity will allow me to gain maturity, independence and awareness that I cannot learn at home. I will learn their customs, behaviors, and language through total immersion.
This once in a lifetime experience will make a huge difference in my life, my family and even my community. I am working hard to raise money by babysitting, recycling and helping others with odd jobs. But, I need help in financing my dream. You can help me reach my goal to raise $6,000 and send me on this journey. I will continue to blog about my experiences while in Norway, so you can check in during the next year to see how things are going and what I am learning. And you, along with me, can try to discover why Norway has the "happiest people in the world."
